Grab Bag 1

A jolly fun-fest of scripto-historical faces from otherwise boring ads:

These are both from a Heinz soup ad. Ignoring the content (because I have a whole rant’s worth of blather on terms like “Homemade” for things that are obviously not made at home), I always get a little freaked when I see something I would never ever consider doing: using script for the first two words or spacing the words that much (though I really am liking it here).

Homemade, but except not.

Homemade style, meaning not homemade.

And here’s an excellent script s and another nice o-m connection, totally different from the first example. Same guy? Or two different draughtspersons?

Beyond the script, though, I really am digging the idio-syncrasies in the sans lettering. It’s close to Futura but warmer for its being hand-done. At least the caps are homemade.
