A Nameless Puppy
The received wisdom is that DDB changed advertising with their VW “Lemon” series. But this ad struck me as similarly modern and conceptual, and it ran nearly three decades before. A clean-to-the-point-of-stark image, at odds with the headline, and pretty much the opposite of what you’d expect from a drug company (as was the the “Lemon” ad). And yet it pulls you in, and the copy is actually a pretty nice payoff.
Kinda stunning when you page past an old REO ad and come upon something like this.
