Again with the glorious full page ad for something so quotidian (but to us scribblers, so intimate) as a dime-a-throw pencil.

Nice hand-done lettering, and I dig the alligator pattern at the bottom. But I have to wonder what kind of graphite-diluting agent makes for the cut rate “Velvets.”

Somehow not the same, now that it’s Faber Castell/Sanford/Whatever. Amazing the peregrinations of that little green brand. Just a pencil. But not just a pencil, I guess.
